much difference from a 1.2 8v to a 1.4 16v in terms of speed, performance and sound of the engine?
also, is there much difference between a 1.4 16v and a 1.6 16v, apart from the difference in price of insurance?

driven all 3, owned 1.6 and 1.2

1.2 is fairly sluggish and the noise isnt too great,
the 1.4 16v has a nice noise but not that much poke..
the 1.6 16v is quite nippy and sounds nice

so if you can insure a 1.6 do it!

for the sake of an extra few bhp and a noticable diffrence in insurance tax etc you may aswell get a 2ltr vectra or sumthing to make paying that bit extra worthwhile. imo

I dont know why this thread has so many responses. It should have been titled something along the lines of "1.2 8V vs. 1.4 16V" and how obvious is it there is going to be some sort of difference between the two?
