One thing after another with Jamie's car at the moment.

Radiator collapsed and bust which resulted in us having to have a tow off the M18 the other week. Just come to fix the new radiator and we discover the front sub frame bar (sorry don't know proper names for it but its the bar that normally runs under the radiator and has the bottom radiator grommet points on it?) has corroded and needs welding and/or replacing.

Question is this, Can this be replaced from underneath the car? Jamie's car has a full kit fitted now and I really would like to protect the front of the kit if possible.

Does anybody know if it is a replacement part and if so what it is called?

Thanks

A very frustrated Di.

Yeah, as Paul says, you'll need to remove the bumper to fit it,

It connects right the way across, so there's no way you'd be able to weld it all in with the bumper on...

Open invite regardless.

I'm beginning to think it's some stupid little thing that's fucking up the whole system, bad earth or something. Checking alternator today

My Ash? Is your radiator held on by string in that photo?

I should mention I suppose that Jay's kit is NOT a bolt on kit

I was doing some welding to the lower cross member, unbolted the radiator and held it up out of the way with a bungee cord

If it's all smoothed in on your lad's car, it could be a bitch to do. Might be possible if you know a friendly mechanic who can get it on a lift, might be able to just get it on from underneath. I'm not confident though.

Can I ask how much you would expect to pay for a front cross member

Strangly enough there is a new one for sale of flea bay

Does it look legit?

That's pretty cheap, even with postage. It's over £50 on sel-imperial.

Cheers Ash

I can reduce the postage by using my own courier anyway.
