Ive just fitted an aftermarket inlet manifold and all vacuum hoses are now in place and throttle sealed with gasket and torqued up.The wires on the throttle switch and icv have been extended due to not reaching.
Now when i start my car it revs upto 4k then drops down to 2k then back upto 4k then 2k and so on.
Any ideas please?
UPDATE
The throttle is staying closed when it revs itself so could it be the icv.But would this cause it to rev up and down?

Seems like an air leak.
Maybe the MAP sensor.

Ive checked the vacuum hoses by spraying them with wd40 to see if theyre leaking and they all seem fine.

Im gonna go back to it 2morrow and check the wiring etc.Do you think it could be the icv or the tps?I know they are both plugged in and clipped in place as i was very careful when plugging them in.

take the sensors out and give them a good clean and put them back in. make sure that your wires are connected to the right wires where you have extended them.

I had this on mine when a garage took my inlet off to change a water hose that runs behind the engine. Turned out to be a vacuum hose that he pulled off had split at one end.

Right, the icv and tps are disconnected and cars still revving itself. Can i discount these 2 sensors as the cause??I dont think it will be the throttle as the butterfly stays closed all the time its revving as ive disconnected this too.ive checked for leaks and cant hear or see anything that sounds or looks like a leak on any vacuum hoses or inlet mating face or the throttle to inletAnyone got any other suggestions cause im thinking of torching the fucking car!!

either an airleak around the inlet or a vaccum hose. if its a vaccum hose its likely to be the MAP sensor. plug everything back in, lissen for hissing noises around the inlet. if nothing, try unplugging the map sensor while its running see if anything changes...... let us know

To be absolutely honest yes i am.The car seems to pull like a train between 2800 all the way to the limiter and it beat a fiesta 1.6 zetec sport about an hour ago over about a mile!!The instructions you get are shit thought so i took photos and may do a write up to post on here.

Got it of ebay mate its a copy of a mantzel but it looks a very good copy and had a mate who fabricates inlets for air con company bench test the flow and he said it flows better than the mantzel he has on his 1.6 sport.
