http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/
The government’s proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.
The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver.
A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.
On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect an NIP with your monthly bill.
If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website (above)

I think that road tax needs to be revised. But this idea is really not going to go down well. People should be able to make descisions about what they do in thier life. That should go as far as being able to choose whether they wish to break the laws and behave dangerously.

i still think the best way to do it is get rid of road tax all together and put it on fuel.
Then you pay for what you use.

You can't do that Paul, you'll get people complaining even more
I agree though, that would work better.

Funny how the govt wants to raise the road tax on higher emission cars/suv's but ignores carbon off setting schemes
I can't see that scheme ever coming in...biggest vote killer ever IMO

You can't have a system where you drive then get a bill - what happens if you can't pay it?
Putting it on fuel is a much better idea, but not so much.
Tolls should also be introduced - the M6 toll road is nice and quiet.

Even if it did come into place which is extremely unlikely then im sure there would be someway of either removing it and leaving it in your living rooms or just tampering with it same way people do with Sky boxes.

It wont come in via government legislation.
More likely through the back door by insurance companies insisting on it

Stand back and think about that post mate.
Road tax is static year on year. Petrol prices vary because of crude oil prices and the taxes levied on it. Our Govt has no control on the price of crude and a mental attitude on taxation.
No win for us either way

Another joke by the government.
Instead of increasing the taxes that people pay and making them pay for stupid stuff like this I have an idea.
Stop spending money on dossers, addicts, asylum seekers and wars.
