I just in middle of buying a 1.6 sport in white. But i dunno which route to go down. I just want something which will surpise anyone when i floor it.

just really asking for your opinions ( already know Iain M's opinion)

But What parts would i need to do the 2.0 route and where can you get them from?

And same with the tb route?

Any opinion will be helpful

1.6 on tb's imo. If set up correctly they should keep about the same fuel consumption as standard, and depending on drivers ability, should be a match for an XE.

would of thought a 2.0 16v would be better with a lot more potential for the future ie tb's!! But a 1.6 on tb's would be fast and a lot easier to do than engine swap. but you can't just get tb's other mods would be usefull too!!!! whats been done to the car already?

But not the bit about the 1.6. I have no preferance. They are both a completely different kettle of fish and you should do some research and speak to people who actually own and drive each car on a daily basis. Then perhaps blag a test drive, rather than using the opinion of the people on here as some people have a 2.0, some have a 1.6, and the rest (read most) have never driven, seen or lived with either. These people usually shout the loudest about trying to tell you what to do.

yes it will, i was having a DEBATE on here earlier about this,i aint gonna even start again

i think its all to do with the owner, and what they would prefer,

please choose what YOU would like before it becomes a royal rumble between XE and 1.6 on tb`s

As ed said ask people on here who have owned or driven both (I have driven none but that is my opinion about the 1.6). Ask someone like Dave A about the 1.6 on Tb's.

ed, I agree, I was joking really.

If the car is already a 1.6, keep it, if its not, lob a 2.0 in IMO

(shock horror)

I would say though, a 2.0 Corsa is fast and pulls fucking hard. They have good power to weight and an agreable ammount of tourqe. The handling is fine for what the car is, but it's not up there with a larger hatch with similar power like a Golf.

well i have an xe so am obviously going to say xe. i cant coment on tbs as i have no idea about them. 2ltrs seem sound enough if you ask me as they are pretty fast and as ed said pull like fuck. Are tbs reliable for every day use?

comes down to what you want the car to do/what do you use it for?

If you drive it a lot, do a lot of miles - c20xe
If its just a B road weekend toy - TB'd x16xe

The noise WILL get tiresome. It WILL cost a pretty penny to upgrade to TB's. More so than a 2.0 conversion. You will need to upgrade brakes on both setups so not a either or.
