If I get myself a media centre, can I upload and store all my DVDs on it?

yep.
Wouldnt recomend doing it the standard way. id say use dvd shrink compact it down by a fair bit. you wont loose much quality.
I download films and store them myself.

is there a way to just put the films on and none of the extras shit to save space?
Id rather not loose any quality in doing it really, how much space would one take up?

You'd be looking at about 4 gig averagely I would say with just the main film.
Hard drives are pennies now so its not really a problem.

i need to do this soon, i have way to many dvd's and ive run out of space in holders again, im pushing well over 250 now, this could be a very good way to keep em, just hope the HD's dont fuck up spose could just box up the dvds and keep em in the loft, but on other hand could sell em
