What is involved in De-Limiting Japanese imports from 112mph? Is it an easy job/DIY or difficult to do.

Approx how much would it cost?

If I dont get an answer here I'll do some more digging on scoobynet etc but I thought someone here may know!

Cheers,

Oli

My question relates mostly to the engine found in MR2 Turbo/ Celica GT4's if that helps!

I got a Speed converter for a 3S-GTE engine sat in my garage (got the whole clocks from a GT4 but you dont actually need them... just the lil black box)

As for whats involved, about 4-5 wires, speed signal in, speed signal out, positive, earth, and ECU

Did mine in half an hour including removing the clocks and half the friggin dashboard!!!

if you need a hand sourcing a car send me a PM mate... i have some contacts who can find you a clean car.

spend 4k on an import GT4 and you can expect it to be a bit rough around the edges... you might get lucky but they usually need work at that price.

You need to bypass a resistor on the gearbox.

Thats what a friend of mine did on his mr2 turbo import.

on every single one I have ever seen done a sticker is put over the KPH sign on the clocks to make it read MPH... and a converter thing is put behind the clocks to change the gearbox signal from kph to mph.

very cheap fix... yet most end up paying around the £100-£120 mark to have it done!
