taken off the anti roll bar on the left hand side
taken off the clutch cable and linkage
taken all the bolts out but one ( i think) hhow many bolts are there?
i think i just need to no how to take the drive shafts off at the gearbox end and where is the engine mount that needs dropped?

no engine mount needs touching, there's the gearbox mount on the passenger side chassis leg, as well as the one on the floorpan, they both need undoing...
can't remember how many bolts there are, but they're all pretty straight forward to get to, you shouldn't have missed any.
driveshafts just pull out basically, you'll need to undo the bottom arm from the struts, then just yank the shafts out by pulling the brake disc
please please please make sure you have the engine supported properly, or you'll fuck up your engine mount, and injure yourself.

well, the BEST way, it by using an engine crane, but I guess you haven't got one of them.
DONT support it under the sump, it will bend.
I'm not sure where is best though

Jack the car up and put it on axel stands and then have lots of sturdy and stable blocks of wood under your sump and add a jack just for good meassure, should have plenty of room and be safe enough

i have two spare axle stands that i could put wither side of engine, if i can find somewhere that they can support it.
if all the engine mounts arent to be touched then why does the engine mount need supported.

will i not crack the sump if to much pressure is put on it?
do i let the car down a bit so that the engine actually sits on the bits of wood or does the wood just sit just below just incase the engine wants to take a plunge.

there's only 1 mount holding the engine, the other 2 hold it up by the gearbox.

you asked a technical question at the end of your post relating to your gearbox issue, I believe this post is more fitting in Help Zone.

it will be fine supported on the sump. as long as you use a reasonably thick board of wood between jack and sump to spread the load out

You will probably need to remove the whole front pass side mount(one bolt through the chassis mount, 3 onto the gearbox itself)
The rear one has two bolts into the gearbox and one that bolts it to the rubber mount
Off the top of my head theres about 5bolts that hold the box to the engine.
Also remember to remove the ones that hold the flywheel cover, as i dont think you can remove the box with those left in.

i have now got the box off, i pulled the driveshafts out but when it came off it left the boot bit going into the gearbox and the shaft just came out. is there anyway of getting it out now?
also which way round does the short shift linkage's go?
