Hello, i thought i'd sign up and post on this forum as my mums corsa (1.0) 51 plate, has developed an oil leak, just wondered if anyone could shed some light onto whats going on here...

As ive circled, thats where the oil is comming out of, its like a steady drip when the engine is on, and doesnt leak at all when the engines off, she's already put almost 3 litres through the engine in the past week without even mentioning it to me :S

Also the oil light is always on the dash (as ive been told by her) but im not sure if its oil level, or oil pressure :S

so if anyone knows anything about this it would be greatly appreciated

its an oil switch of some sort i had the same problem on mine just got to your local spares shop buy another 1 and fit it job done

looks like the sensor for the oil light on dash.Maybe the seal gone.Either get a new one or take it out and clean it up and seal it back in with gasket sealer.

I think thats the oil pressure switch, not sure how much they are, might be worth looking at replacing it.

great stuff! thanks very much for your replies, ill have a look at somehow getting that off, ill take a look tomorrow when ive got some light, hopefully its just a small thread on it...

I've also been told that the oil light on the dash is for pressure, not level.

well, i changed to oil pressure switch today, and suprise suprise, the leak has stopped with it, as well as the light on the dash has gone out, and it only cost £3.96
