If you own a car or bike read on...
Importance: High
Over 71,000 signatures according to this morning's "Today" programme and a lot more people are signing this than the petitions to halt ID cards and to reverse the hunting ban. This hits the General Public in the pocket. Politicians only seem to take notice when their cushy Parliamentary Seats are at risk.
Sign and pass it on. It only takes a minute.
The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to
Purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.
The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC,
The lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery
Driver.
A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in
One month.
On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will
Know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been
Going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a
NIP with your monthly bill.
If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car
Driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/
Please pass this on to anyone who owns a car/motorcycle. It affects them.
This is an official website for Number 10 Downing Street.

All of the information up there is false anyway, nobdy knows how much the boxes would cost.

I'd agree with that. Also 71,000 people have signed it, but how many million people live in the UK? Works out to quite small percentage wise. And how would the government enforce this, implimenting this would be an absolute nightmare.

the way I see it is that any device fitted to the car would obviously need to be hard wired so it cant be removed. This means it being fitted by a qualified place such as an alarm installer or similar. that would take years and years to get every car done so that would never work as the ones to be done first would would be paying their fees for longer than others etc....
loads of flaws in that system, then there would be the fact that it would be so simple to disarm the box, it wouldnt be much more than a 12v feed anyway that would need to be fused, pull the fuse, or replace it with a blown one,
the only real way it could be done is by number plate recognition with cameras everywhere automatically logging every car on every road the system was used on, would take years to do and probably cost loads more to install and run than the revenue gained from it.
cant see how else it could be done.

Tbh he has a valid point. Currently only 0.12% of the population has signed it. I doubt the government would listen to that even if it was going to go ahead, which i doubt very much as Dave A has explained.

They are wanting to take every fucking penny off us. How it seems is there trying to make everyone have fuck all. Everyone i speak to is "skint" compare this to about 5 years ago and everyone had a lot more disposable income. I think they will put cameras on bridges and record where we are going etc. I think there will be a MASSIVE protest though as this would put many little haulage/bus/taxi etc companys out of business.
The Goverment really do annoy me . They are sucking everyone dry due to thier mistakes and there stupid spending habits . I mean even the NHS is on its arse? why? because not enough money has been pumped in to it. How i personally see it is money should be spent initially on NHS , then schools ,I think pensions should go up rather than the super low rate they get now this would all be able to be controlled if money wasnt wasted on blairs outings at thousands a time. All this money given to these people who have a supurb life sailing on the top on benefits.
If the issue is "there isn't any jobs" the usual excuse, then the goverment should say " we now need 100,000 road cleaners" you will be selected automaticaly, if you decide not to do it then benefits will be stopped.
Its the scum of the country who are basically laughing at us working hard and they are basically sponging off society
Rant over!
