Try get a sealed one if you can afford it

Either a sealed one, or protect it that or get a nice cold air feed.

you can use an induction kit without cold air feed, but the whole point is to get cold air,

without cold air feed your car will more than likley suffer from flat spots due to all the hot air in the engine bay being sucked up...

you can get some piping from somewhere else to ask as a cold air feed.. pipercross air feed is about £20-30 can get some tubing from a normal shop for a few quid

I've got a K&N fitted, see photo

u can just make out the "cold feed" pipe attached by cable tie
this runs down to the side of the radiator and is feed by the lower grill under the number plate shown in the photo below

my K&N kit came with the piping and just required some resizing and cable ties.

edit: NB the second photo does not show the piping as at the time of photo it was not fitted but would be seen from this angle.

yup, any reason you say it would make no difference?
i only followed the instructions....placed the pipe no closer than 4 inches (if i remember correctly)
it actually suggested cutting away the bumper but i thought better of it and placed it in my grill.

can you explain flat spots?
never quite understood what is meant by this.

what i DO get is a revver engine, particulary above 3k. seems to be more responsive.
and the noise is great. you understand a 1ltr doesnt quite perform but hearing a rasp when i hit the go pedal brings a smile ot my face.
a car is a car, but a good car is a one thats exciting (a lose quote from J Clarkson)....ban me for wanting to enjoy driving my car but that why i did it hence my Irmy exhaust and my sig.

sorry went on a rant there. apologies. just wanted to add my opinion to a thread and then got a bit heated!

Yep should be able to, just use tie-wraps if you cant attach it to something and leave it somewhere that air is available and away from the engine

i admit i had the ease with my air dam i have the extra lower grill.
the pipe that came with the kit was at least 200mm if not 300mm longer than i needed which would put it at the lower lip of a standard front bumper....just a matter of finding a cable tie point!
