Hey guys, thought i should start one of these posts.
I bought the car and it looked like this:
Gave the car a polish, t-cut and some autoglym bumper care. I also debadged it and it was looking slightly better. (lost a wheel trim  )
I was borded so decided to give the engine bay a little clean:

I got some new speakers for my christmas so i decided to fit them. Only problem was the magnets were a little bigger thant he odler ones. So i had to make some speaker pods/spacers:
Only thing is the screws keep falling out then and they are too big so the bottom half of the door card doesn't go on. I will need to cut a bit out of the doorcard. Or make some smaller spacers.
Then for a while i have been wanting to colour code it. So today i made a start.
First off, removed the wheels so i could gain access to the arches:
(this is the first time i have ever removed a wheel. So in this process i am learning  ) Never jacked a car up either before
As you can see the break pads are a little rusty. Should i give them a sand down or something ?
Next step was to rip out the plastic wheel arch from underneith, which was a pain in the ass. It is full of plastic clips which are flush wth the arches and make them hard to remove. I finially got it done on both sides.
Then with a little pull off it came - eventually:
Once they were off the bumper came off:
I got one of the arches of as well which can be seen here:
After i'm had something to eat i'm going out to the garage to sand the bumper and arch down - Bumpers and bigger than they seem And will maybe get a the primer done tonight.
Which will leave me to get the back bumper off along with three more arches. I need to get it done asap because i need my car on Monday 
Like my steelies ? Plans are to get a set of alloys at some point and see what it looks like then. Maybe lower it not sure. Then when I get 1years no claims do a 1.6l conversion

i cnt really tell if u deff do but they do look like they have got a big lip on the discs. how much meat you got left on your pads???

Yea there is a pretty big lip. I'll measure how big it is tomorrow

Why did you need to remove the wheel arch liner?
There is only two bolts holding the bumper on inside the arch, one can be see as soon as the wheel is removed and the other is the first bolt on the front arch.
When I took the bumper off my old car, I never removed the arch liner.
Edit: Did you use axle stands while the car was in the air?

I had to remove the arch liner to get the actuall plastic arches off. I got one off so far.
No i ddin't use axle stands, just two jacks. It's still on them at the moment and will be untill tomorrow. Because there is no wheels on

Update:
Went out to the garage and lay down some sheets so i didn't get everything covered in primer.
First i had to sand it down:
Then the primer:
1st coat:
2nd coat
3rd coat
And the arch which i got off:
1st coat
2nd coat
3rd coat:
So tomorrow i'll get those painted and hopefully get the back bumper off and the other three arches. That gives me 1 1/2 - 2 days to put everything back on lol.
I was hoping just to use three cans of primer for the whole lot, but i used 1 3/4 cans on those two

still rub in down afterwards to get every bit of the bobbly texture out and then do it again in filler primer. look forward to the end product

Yea well i'm going to rub it down with warm soapy water and sand paper. Then start painting.
The hardest part will be putting the bumpers etc back on

will be easy enough to get back on, just dont drop it. have a soft cloth underneath and cushions so you can rest it as you get one side on.

You may need a new lower grille, as you seem to have covered it in primer! There only £15 form vauxhall. Work looks gd btw, keep the pics coming

I remember someone on here did something similar, it didnt look too good, purely because there was too much red. The black section breaks it up nicely.

I've seen alot of people with colour coded bumpers, i just wanted to do it because i think it will lok nice. I'm sure it will.

Sorry, i was thinking gril... but wrote bumper
So most of you think the bottom grill shouldn't be painted ? I couldn't get it off so i just left it on

You should buy a set of axle stands, you can get them for £15 or so. It isnt too safe workin on a car just supported by jacks.

The lower gille should just be clipped on. Give it a pull, but try not to break any of the clips.
