they look the same (basically a big screen and little else) but the technologies are different.
Is like saying an MR2 with ferrari kit is same as a 355.

No, look at the software they run and everything.
tbh I haven't looked into it further to actually find out whats what but they look exactly the same, menus, on screen buttons etc.

Not necessarily... its american designed for a start which is a problem and it mainly uses EDGE rather than 3G etc...

yeah, understand that. But its going to be a huge seller no matter what (simply because its Apple!) so would expect they all would want some of that!

In my opinion it looks shit hot and some of the smaller touches, ie. how it is unlocked etc make it stand out more to me than what is currently on the market. I watched the whole hour video on the apple site and am very impressed unfortunately will be a while before its avaliable in this country

plenty of sites comparing it against phones like the new nokia n80, saying it has a lot of flaws like
- no 3G
- not beable to stream order or download audio without the use of a usb cable (both can be done on the nokia)
- wifi support is only for data and not Voice (ie: VOIP) unlike the n80
- no memory card support
- will only be supported on a few networks
- poor battery life
- no 3rd party apps unlike other smartphones
- shoddy camera
Personally i think it will be more a miss than a hit. They will sell loads because its apple, but i very much doubt it will be a milestone for mobile phones, even if they are bringing a lot of new technology.

if they sell shed loads then thats a hit, regardless of how good it is!!!
There is no need for memory cards really, holds 4GB or 8GB, and Im not sure how they are commenting on things such as battery life as until its out on the market it wont really be known properly.

I didn't see any new technology 
The features look quite good but zooming in on a picture isn't exactly new.
What have they got on it that takes advantage of the multi touch screen?

the people who keep putting apple down over this, its there first try, and as first trys go, its fuckin cool. the iPhone rev2 or rev3 will be immense, once they know what there doin abit more
