Stupid if they have, and WHU are stupid for spending that much money on him!

Just saw that... both sides are complete fucktards!!
Also saw on Arsenals website that Charlton have taken Alex Song on loan for rest of seaosn (thank fuck) and Bendtner is staying at Birmingham until the end of the season so I reckon Wenger will make a loan signing of his own!!

They are like a cheaper version of Chelsea... would be partially amusing if they go down as they scramble to sell all thgese overpriced players they keep seeming to go in for!!

if they go down then they'll be in trouble, as if any big money signings like Bent follow Lucas Neill and have a get out clause if they go down then they wont get much money back!

I think WHU are being silly here and I'm surprised at Alan Curbishly. Silly money to be offering on an over rated player. They need to be bringing in players that will do a good job + steady the ship. Bent is a confidence player and has been out of form. Lucas Neill will do a job, good signing. Steady + reliable. Players like Boa Morte again, confidence player, will he want the scrap?
Time will tell but if they do go down and this bloke decides he's spent enough they could go on to do a Leeds/Forest.
Charlton should take the money without a doubt.

What if egghead decided after a year say if they didn't go back up that he wanted out or something? Anything is possible in football. Bet Chelsea never thought they'd be in financial trouble, soon as Roman clears off they'll be in the brown stuff and back to a side battling for Uefa/poss champ league place.
Just think WHU should be signing some battlers at the moment, someone like Nolan rather than Quashie etc. Going to be a good finish to the season though!

If they stay up this season they will recieve close to 60 million, depending on the position they would finish next season, over the 2 seasons. If they go down they will recieve less than 30.
You won't stay up unless you have a proven premier league goalscorer in your team so although he's probably only worth half that it's maybe not as big a gamble as it seems on the face of it.

agreed in that sense nik, but quashie has played very well IMO and done ok
in our postion we are ever going to sign players from smaller clubs ie quashie, or players from similar clubs and pay them more, like neill
nolan etc would never come to us

Would Bent get the goals though? From what I've seen the badly need a goal scorer until Ashtons back. Don't think Zamora is upto it, Jade Goodys too unrealiable.

the big money doesnt start until next season, so if they stay up they will only get a min of £26.5 (ish) next season even if they finished bottom. This season if they got relagated they would only get a small amount.

Yeah so assuming they finish 4th bottom upwards this season and do well next season (i.e. European spot) then they would be recieving close to 60 million if the figures that are being quoted are correct.

Still get the parachute payments for 2 years @ 10mill a season if your relegated which is pretty good. Think Watford will be in a good position next year if/when they are relegated., not spent big but have money to spend wisely in the summer to get back up there.

nowhere near.
They would get about 5mil this year for being near the bottom (about right I think?) and next year would get around 35-40mil for being around a Euro spot.
