My dad phoned up for a quote on an exhaust for a Toyota Yaris (Toyota being very expensive) and they said they would need to look at it as they couldn't quote over the phone. Now if they lift it on to the ramp to see which exhaust it is, as for some reason they can't find it in that catalogue from an age description ( ) will they charge for time?

They never had my ibiza exhaust in their booklet, said they would have to purchase it from seat, then charge me for fitting it and the cost of the carriage from seat to kwik fit, worked out about £100 more than what seat were gonna charge me!!!

Where i live i would rather use a dodgy back street garage than Kwik Fit. THe other day i walked past, 2 blokes in uniform under a car. One welding with no mask on, the other standing next to him with a fag on gurning like your average Saxo driver (no offense )

I used to work for kwik Fit as an apprentice.

Please dont use them, i used to fit exhausts and beleive me , i was utter shite at it but got made to do it.

They buy there parts from europarts then add what they want depending on how well profits are at the time for that centre.

But , no they wont charge you for ramp time. They will put it on ramps, check tracking, tyres , and bettery checks all for free as there part of a safety scheme which is free.

Ask what your Dad thinks, maybe they've changed since then though.

One of the two Kwik Fits in Slough is actually alright I bought a pair of tyres off them last week for my Astra.

Thought I'd never hear myself praising a Kwik Fit franchise!

they were alright actually. They had the car on the ramp and gave us a quote for the section that needed replacing. I asked for a full system quote too and he said it didn't need as the back box was fine but quoted me anyway. He even took me in to the workshop to show me whilst the car was on the ramp.

Cheaper than Toyota too.

Same with my local Stapletons. I parked up at the front to get a quote for fitting my alloys (which I'll be getting tomorrow ) and there was an Astra VXR having a tyre changed. I felt like a right goon trying to make my 12v better when I really want one of those.

Its not like saying that atall mate.

Before you get it done, Go to there supplier(most likely Europarts) grab a catalouge, find the prices THEY pay for the parts.

Go to a few garages, ask how much it would be to fit said stuff, I can almost bet you that you'll save money.

Thats the way i do it now.

Its not the prices that concern me, its the job they do. I took my corsa into a kwik fit just before christmas for a new exhaust (needed it doing ASAP). It went in a total of 3 times before they fitted it properly.
