what is the SAI system and what does it do if its removed?

at a guess its the secondary airpump? not too sure what it does, but from seeing pics of them on peoples cars i can only guess it draws heat off the manifold to the heaters to get everything warmer quickly, but dont quote me on that

it takes fresh air and injects it into the exhaust manifold which helps lower emmissions during warm-up.
