Read in a couple of mags today that in the US the 360 outsold the PS3 and Wii put together to gain a market share of 51% 
HD DVD drives also sold over 100,000 units by Dec 06
Also included was an article about Sony, News from the AIE show in Las Vegas confirmed that Porn is will no be standardised on HD DVD and NOT Blu RAy. Companies have also stated about Sony putting pressure n studios not to use blu ray for Porn.
Sony are also loking into the pre-owned market stating that huge amounts of revenue are lost to pre owned titles. Apparantly there are rumours of online licensing/regestering of games etc.
Sony have also lost another exclusive in the form of Unreal Tournament
 it appears Sony is being shot down from all angles

Of course they outsold them both, was out well before.
That Sony/Blu Ray/Porn thing is a myth, plenty of site out there confirming this, and Sony wouldnt be stupid enough to make that mistake twice.

IT was announced at the Adult Industry Exhibition to all the porn producers.
PS3 was out in November and still had stock at Xmas when i went there, no reason why it shouldnt have sold more TBH

So you thought Sony would sell 10m in 6 weeks?!
I seriously doubt Sony wouldnt allow Blu Ray to be used for porn, that was the decider in the VHS battle which Sony fucked up on. It might of been anounced but I doubt it was Sony that did so.

Sony Corp. said it will not work with the adult film industry to help put its movies on its Blu-ray Disc format, although the company will not try to stop it completely.
The company will not allow its disc-replicating subsidiary, Sony DADC Global, to handle adult film titles, it said this week. In markets where Sony operates around the world, it won't duplicate any movies that are above a certain rating or that have not been certified by a local motion picture association.
Sony wouldn't disclose exactly where it draws the line, but the rule means that adult movie makers will have to find someone else to reproduce their films in bulk. While other companies offer such services, the adult industry feels it is being cut out of the Blu-ray camp altogether.
The choice of which high-definition disc format to use was "kind of made for us, so everything we are replicating right now is in the HD-DVD format," said Robby D, a director at popular adult film maker Digital Playground Inc. "As far as I understand, Sony has said to the replicators that if you replicate adult, you'll lose your license."
Sony's decision to stay away from pornography could have wide implications for Blu-ray Disc. Not only could some companies backing Sony's format miss out on a lucrative market, but analysts say it could eventually mean that Blu-ray loses out to HD-DVD in the battle to become the next-generation DVD format.

from what ive been reading its pressure from disney not to have porn on blu ray. i dont think sony have said that its 100% true that porn wont come to blu ray but disney is there biggest studio backing blu ray and if they go to hd dvd it will effect them.
anyway right now theres probably alot more money to be made on normal dvd porn

Is the 51% figure taking into account the fact that you could go into any shop and buy as many 360's as you like?
I know you keep saying about the ps3's being on shelves over xmas but that must have been some one off.
People were being killed over them.
Porn is coming to bluray, they have found someone to replicate the discs, that however imo isn't as big a factor as it was before the internet.
These figures etc will have a bit more meaning this time next year when you can go into any shop, buy any console, with the prices reduced as well.

I guess time will tell but I cant see sony dominating the console market!
They have had all this extra time to develop a console that 'should' blow all current consoles out of the water but it looks like it will just match 360

John as of Xmas 2006 i went into many game stores in NY and could simply pick up a PS3 and buy, wii and the xbox had sold out.
Its NOT Disney pressurising the porn industry its SONY saying they wont allow their production companies to copy them etc
However other companies could setup their own BLu ray porn production line but due to cost the majority have said they will use HD DVD due to cheaper costs and no silly restrictions like Sony are pushing.
And as for sonys stance on trying to stop preowned without buying a new license

A veyron costs about double the price of other cars that are only fractions of a second away from matching the performance.
It doesn't mean you aren't getting a good deal when you buy a veyron though.

I had just thought of it there.
As I keep trying to point out when i'm getting slated, I don't know which one will come out victor, I don't even have a favourite.
This originally started because people were talking shit basically.
I'd have said the same for the 360.
My comment above was just based on the price issue.
Yes it's expensive, yes it costs more than a 360 but imo you are getting an awfull lot for your money.
If you buy consoles based on price go and buy a wii.

No i just like to clear up bullshit, especially as i have played all 3 and can therefore give opinions on ALL 3.
I have had both PS in the past but have gone for the 360 as its the best by far.

Dave has had his since launch, ive had mine since last year, no problems. Sony has also had problems with blu ray disks being mashed to bits
