I was wondering whether the z18xe has the same inlet shape as the x16xe engine?
I was looking at buying a dbilas inlet for the 1.8 SRi but its costly! so would I be able to get one designed for the 1.6 (a mantzel for example) and fit that to the 1.8 instead?
I noticed this car has the 1.8 engine with a mantzel fitted, anyone got any more info?

Any help appreciated
Cheers

Definitely a C16XE.
I THINK, (but I'm not sure, as I've never looked at them side by side) that the inlet side of the head is totally different, and the X16XE inlet will not fit.

Z18XE has one too, that's where the confusion has arisen

its a c16xe
the 1800's have plastic mass air meters
UNLESS - its a x18xe1 running a c16xe loom with reprogrammed ecu to suit the 1.8
some how i doubt that tho

it doesnt look like a standard 1.8, more likely to be a bored out 1.6. the 1.8 doesnt have a dispack like that, it has a big block ontop of the plugs.
on the standard 1.8 16v smallblack engine (x18xe1 or z18xe) the inlet manifold incorporates some of the water jacket from the cylinder head. as far asim aware the inlet from an earlier 1.6 should physically bolt straight on, but i dont know effects that would have on the cooling side. i was going to bolt TBs onto one and hope for the best

the 1.8s look like this, and have a different oil filler cap. also, that carbon cover wouldnt fit onto a 1.8 cam cover as the mounting points are in a different place

cheers for the info. So as far as fitting is concerned, the 1.6 and 1.8 do have the same inlet pattern/size? but the water passages are different?

It is easy, tehy simply put the crankshaft from the X18XE small block and its pistons to achieve 1800 cc.
Because I cannot fit a C20XE here in my country that is my favorite route if my 1.628 lts goes BANG!
But Mantzel want you to pay 10 000 euros for this
what a joke

so theres no re bore or anything needed to fit the pistons and crank. would it fit a x16xe ? sounds like a good plan to me

Dude, off course you need a rebore to 80 mm for the pistons. I can't remember now if they are 80 or 80,5mm.
You also need the crank of the small block X18XE and there you have a 1.8 ltr X16XE. some bearing and so on.
The car would have more torque but less happily to rev
Mantzel telling us they would charge 10 000 euros for a 1.8 is really a joke however
