Trying to get a list together of cars that you could buy and then sell in a years time and not loose to much dollar...

Mate of mine has a Smart Brabus roadster and it's a pretty decent car all round..Nippy..Convertable..Great MPG..Different..Cheap ish insurance and they don't make them anymore.

This is a nice example

http://www.petrolheads.co.uk/sales/130424.htm

Others i've thought of

Focus RS..Honda S2K..ermmm that's it.

Would never buy a smart car - just....no

S2k would be a good bet I think.........should see a good chunk of your money back after 12 months!!

Most standardish older BMW/Merc.

Anything slightly interesting and thus expensive will loose too much.

Plus of course the less you spend the less you lose, which rules out your first shortlist.

S2K's are going for 10K now! Plus there britains No1 car to own so it might be a safe bet?

Some Focus RS's are more than ST's

Mini's hold there value very well and I see that limited edition "Tuner GP" version is already selling for up to 25K on autotrader (they were 22K new if you could get hold of one). So maybe one of them?

its all about buying a car cheap/shabby and selling it with good advertising and well presented.

I made money on two cars... R33 GTs and Punto GT

Presumably you want something fast and around or under the 10k mark?
A quick list off the top of my head....

Mk4 Golf GTi
Focus RS
VX220
Elise
Scooby RB5/P1
Evo 4/5/6
ITR DC2
EK CTR
...tbh a lot of your older jap mobiles won't loose much value if their preformance cars.

106GTi
306 GTi
FRST
ERST
Astra GTE/Gsi (maybe even the Mk4 ones should hold their value in the short term, as their a good price at the moment)
Cally V6/16V/Turbo
Mk3 Golf VR6/Gti etc

Depends how much you've got to spend really. Like Ian said, anything older will be worth less, so you'll loose less. Stuff over 10-15 years old, if it's clean and has good perfromance should alway be easy to sell on for cheap thrills
