I'm using a 10m vga cable as my PC is at the other end of the room. I have tried the resolutions/refresh rates stated in the TVs manual but I keep getting this:

Is the cable faulty?

Try another cable..
I guess you need to change some settings on your pc too

lower the resolution to say 800x600 and change the refresh rate to say 50Hz or so (lowest option). Looks like it can't handle the resolution you're setting it to.
Have you tried searching google or forums like AVForums etc? might be worth a shot and see if other people have had similar problems 
Oh and like said, try a different cable...
