Was ploding along last night at a steady 3,000rpm. Then I got thinking, I wonder how many times the pistions are going up and down every second.
The answer is 50 times a second Is this right? Pistion no.1 travelling from TDC, to the bottom, to TDC again, 50 times a second?
So, Brosters silly 11k rev limit means that his will going up and down 183 times a second when being revved to 11k
This can't be right, surely? I know can see why they blow up

I have seen like a glass case engine working before, you can't even really see the main components working as they are moving that fast

probably very high, that's why they only have engines that last 1-2 races

No, my orginal question, 50 times a second, traveling at a steady 3k rpm.
I'm aware they go up and down faster as the rpm increases

if the crank is turning 3000 times a minute then thats 50 times a second. there are 4 pistons that work in twos so wouldn't the pistons do 25 full rotations second does that make sense to any one else i've made my self go cross eyed

Nope, because if the crank has done 1 full rotation ALL of the pistions have all gone from TDC, to the bottom then back to TDC
