I can't afford an alarm at the moment but want some kind of better deterrent, especially as a mate has moved to a quiet part in Luton.
Is it possible to wire up to the headunit wiring? And I want it to work when the ignition is off.
I have no idea about electrical car wiring so any advice would be great.
If I paid someone to install this, how long would it take?

Go to maplin and get a flashing red led, led holder and resister for 12v current.
You want a permanent live, you can use the back of your headunit and you want an ignition live, can use your cigerette lighter.
Wire the positive to the permanent live and the earth to the ignition live. When the ignition is off, the ignition live acts as an earth and the led will flash, when the ignition live is on the circuit is incomplete and it won't flash.
Perfect, you can do this yourself, take you bout a hour max.

alternatively you could wire it to the normally closed contact of a 12v relay and use an ignition live to energise the coil.

Ignition live is black on a Corsa, right?
You can buy an LED that flashes with a free sticker off Maplin for £2...
