My TVs Native resolution is 1366 x 768 and can receive upto 1080i
Somebody told me using progressive resolutions will mean less ghosting. Would it be better for me to use 720p rather than 1080i as im sure the TV is scaling down to display the 1080 anyway??

I've heard the same as you. That 1080i isn't as good as 720p.

Well from what i understand, 720 is ??? x 720, so surely my TV is scaling down a lot to fit 1080i
therefore 720 wouldnt do as much scaling and i would be using a progressive signal ?

p = progressive which is a different way of displaying the images in time.
i beleive the "i" way of doing it is the slow way and not as good as the p way.

1080i can be better than 720p. but you need a 1920*1080 native TV for it. If you have a 720 native tv than 1080i will never look better than 720p. Its normally recommended to run as close as possible to your native resolution.
