It's a Toshiba A100-027 for sale at PC World for £499, I'm thinking of buying it and selling my desktop PC so I have somewhere to put my (music) keyboard!
SPEC:
Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2060 1.6GHz
533MHz FSB
1MB Cache
1024MB RAM
80GB Hard Drive
Dual Layer DVD ReWriter MultiDrive
15.4" Widescreen Display
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
128MB Intel GMA 900 UMA Graphics
1 Year Free Warranty
I saw it at PCW today looked pretty slick to me, good value for money etc?

Yes I'd say so. Most laptops sub £500 have to compromise a little but that aint a bad spec for the money.

I don't really wanna pay more than £500 for a laptop, the cheaper ones seem to have Celeron CPUs.

A slightly better spec processor I think, better clock speed and cache but similar spec.

I never heard of Advent, are they as good as Toshiba?

No Advent is PCW own brand I think. However I have had two PC's off them in the past and both been excellent with regards to no faults etc. Not sure about the laptops side. Someone might offer better advice however as they both have the warranty and most parts inside will be similar brands anyway. I'd risk it

Toshiba are wank laptops. Everyone I know that had a Toshiba laptop, broke. Hence 'had' being the key word.
Acer are pretty good for their money.

they may, but al the customer facing accont teams use lenovo items as it was historically the IBM brand, plus they are still paid royalties for Lenono using their design.

I have a refurbed T40 from BigPockets.co.uk, £350 inc carry case and telephone line dial up extending wire thing. Can't fault it as a back-up in case my PC has a spas or I need something at Uni.
6 month IBM warranty as well!
