RS1800i and Turbos are the ones to have, I love them as long as they are well maintained.

The XR2i 1.8 16v's aren't bad no, but a Corsa GSi should be able to beat one.

1.4 corsa sport = 1.4 fiesta si (frog eye model) plus they have a 7000 rev limit  fiesta will win
1.6 corsa sport = 1.6 fiesta zetec s (late model) you will need some mild tunning to keep up with them, from my experience
the only mk3 that will give you a run will be the rs 1800 and the rs turbs will kick arse against a 1.4

the si was a 1.6 16v zetec. unless they also made a 1.4 16v aswell.

 read it as it says frog eye model not mk 3  the si mk 3 1.6 are slow as feck ? mate had one and my old 1.4 spi lump kept up as did mattcape in his 1.4 16 v...

ive got a mk3 that i use for work
shes a bit of a beast ... couldnt pull the skin off custard .. ive even raced a pigeon once and won by a pigoens lengh

the mk4 si's used to be quick were quick.....
the only quick mk3's are the rs turbo... IMO

1.1i 8v will beat a corsa 1.2 8v also

i have a mk3.5 rs1800 which apparently is the best one to get. it has a small rust patch on the bottom of the door, and a small blob on one rear arch. so yes its a rust bucket
i reckon it would put up a fair fight against a fully interior'd 2.0 corsa upto 100 or so as well
