City Receives Anonymous Donations To Cover FA Fine

York City Football Club confirmed today that the Club has received anonymous donations totaling £2500 to cover the cost of the fine imposed by the FA as a result of the incident which took place during the Woking game.

One donation was made by an individual in the York area and the other by an anonymous businessman from Hampshire.

As the donations exceeded the £2000 fine, one of the supporters was contacted and asked if he would like his donation to be ring fenced as a contribution to another aspect of Club operations. The supporter stated he would like the donation to go towards the development of the Club’s new players bar facility.

Commenting on the donations, York City Managing Director Jason McGill said, “We would like to express our sincere thanks to the two supporters who have made these substantial donations to the Club to cover the cost of the fine imposed by the FA. Everyone at York City was overwhelmed and very touched by these generous gestures.”

Jason McGill added, “As we have previously stated, we thought the fine was very harsh and it was an unwelcome financial pressure at what is a critical time in the season. These donations have eased the pressure completely which will ultimately benefit Billy McEwan and the team in our push for a play-off place. Finances continue to be tight and it’s fair to say we would have been unable to sign all three new players if these donations had not been made.”

Fans from both teams were fighting on the touchline, players and coaches were flying in left right and centre with punches. Headlines in press were Fight Night
