Just wondering how prepared everyone is for the trackday in 2 weeks
I know I still have a few jobs to do!
Fit tailgate
Paint front wings and tailgate
Oil and filter change
Sort out wiring
Fit passenger seat and harness
Plate over where the wheel well was removed
Fit tyres and wheels
Full spanner check
Make brackets etc to fit indicators
Get MOT, tax and Insurance
Road test the damn thing and pray the brakes actually work properly!
then clean off the thick layer of shite that has settled on it

Only a few jobs
To be fair I drove it across the farm the other day so it doesn't need that much doing to it

Car's got the engine out at the moment....should be back in time.
Hoping it will be ready for the 6th so we can take it for a practice run at knockhill first

That's what I was going to say....I thought the trip down was going to be running it in...would it be wise to take it to knockhill before that?

i don't really think booting it round knockhill counts as a 'run in'

i'd def recommend flushing brake fluid, and replacing it with 5.1 before tracking it....

AND

fitting pads that wont fade after a few heavy stops. You will be building heat in the brakes much much quicker and for longer than normal road use.

Pads i've tried recently

Ferrodo DS 3000 - very vey good but pricey and very rough on discs
Pagid RS421 - ok
Mintex 1155 - seemed good
Greenstuff green - sanitary towels would be better.

Fresh oil is also a good thing to do.... and check the other fluids....

Oli, only half of that stuff needs doing

You can go with a 2 tone car with a hole in the boot floor

I bought paint today so the wings and boot should be painted in time
Had to order a pair of bonnet pins cos no-one stocks them anymore, what happened to all the chavs wanting bonnet pins
I'll plate up the floor 2moro then get an MOT booked at the weekend...maybe.

Just had to buy some new front tyres for mine to get it through the MOT so I ended up buying new tyres for the rear as well - Goodyear Eagle F1's so should see me with plenty of grip.

And also waiting for some new brake pads to be delivered which I'll be fitting this weekend - Ferrodo DS2500.

Other than that, gotta sort out some track day insurance and then I'll be ready

why dot 4?

I'm getting a bit concerned that the skyline wont be ready :/

13 days or so for it to be ready.

I really need to get it run in and fueling checked at boost before the trackday too

min...

its never simple is it

DOT 4 because the chemicals used in DOT 5 can in-time corrode seals etc in the braking system as the brakes where designed using DOT 4 fluid and the chemicals it contains make it a safer option. plus if u get a high boiling temp DOT 4 its just as good. plus its a bit cheaper 2.

hope that makes sense hard to put into words
