i think someone has updated itunes on the computer
usually doesnt affect me but this time it has. i have lost near 3000 songs. any ideas?

go to where they are all saved by iTunes on your HD and see if they are there.
Update should NEVER delete any songs though, so something else has probably happened.

Im on a Mac so couldnt tell you where to go. It should tell you in the settings somewhere, and then just go to there on your HD and see if they are gone from there aswell.

even if they were wiped from itunes they should still be there unless someone has been pissing about.
It happened to my GF, her sister fucked something up and then blamed it on an update. Lost 1000's of songs. Taught her to back them all up in a different place from time to time though.
IIRC you can get any you've paid for via itunes back though, not sure how but a search on itunes should help find out.

system restore didnt do anything. im proper pissed off about this.
