I haven't done an actual test or course so cant get cheaper insurance but my Dad has his traffic police licence so has taught me how to drive fast safely.
He is teaching the local Audi garage's mechanics and sales people aswell as their driving is shocking. They have had a few of their customers cars crashed due to their mechanic's/sales people's poor driving!
Does generally make you more aware and learn things you wouldn't think of if you hadn't been taught by someone that knows.

My old man did the rapid response driving on the ambulances so I picked up a fair bit from him in the same way.
I reckon they should have a skid pan assessment as part of the driving test

Teddy has, IIRC it does naff all for your insurance. I was going to do it last year and when I looked into it wasn't worth it.
Run a search for Institute of Advanced Motorists there's been a fair few topics.
