This is what I was greeted with at the side of the road:

Corsa:

Wheel Cap off - Look at what fell out :

Got it home, wheel fell off when it was coming off the lorry. Bloke was really cool though and put the car back onto the lorry, then put it in the driveway.

Check out that brake disc from the caliper moving:

Bits that came off at the roadside, lined up on the pavement:

Tonight's investigation:

Summary: Fucked wheel bearing, Snapped CV, Scratched Brake Disc and fucked M-Tech Hub. Wonder if i'll be able to get any of this when I phone LMF in the morning!

Cheers to benn for coming for a look and a spare CV

Thoughts?

right from what i could see, it looks like the hub has snaped,

as in the 2nd pic from the bottom,
the two most inner rings have jagged edges like theyve been snaped off, and look like they should be connected to the hub around the end of the shaft..

and where it snaped its moved enough and has basic cut thru the end of the cvs thread bit...
as there is a big ground off grove in it where the snap has happened..

the front part of the hub(where the wheel bolts threads are fell off with the disk)

this pic shows what i mean... i'm sure the bit with the red should be connected same wit the yellow..
there both jagged edged,as if they have sheared apart...
if so the hubs failed....

Get the replacment anyway, and then sell it or keep it as a spare?

Im sure someone else with an XE on here one day will have the same issue.

My thoughts exactly

If the same happened on the motorway, it'd have been game over.

Did you buy the parts new or secondhand?

I don't understand what's actually caused it to go like that .

If I was on the motorway at the time I'd be dead right now.

The wheel fell off immediatley after it was backed off the truck. So wouldn't have lasted long before the wheel fell off if I was at speed.
