Any good, or a waste of money?
Heres what courtenay say about them -
quote: Courtenaysport
To a large extent, the power and torque out put on any engine is dependent on the volume of air its capable of drawing in. Research shows that the standard GM throttle bodies fitted to most Vauxhall engines are undersized and act as a bottle-neck to the inlet charge, pegging back power and torque. To over come this we dismantle the throttle body and use a CNC lathe to enlarge the diameter of the unit, as well as installing a new, bigger throttle disc and low profile spindle to suit. Typically, this results in an increase in full throttle cross sectional area of between 10 and 20%. The result? Improved torque and power outputs usually in the order of 4 to 7 bhp, as well as superior throttle response and a sharper feel to the engine. All throttle body reworking is carried out on an exchange basis.
Corsa 1.4/1.6 - £255 on exchange
Thanks.

not sure if they are worth it, guy put one on his GTi 6 and it made very little in terms of power but throttle response was changed and bcame a lot more sensitive etc

I had one (homemade one) on my x16xe with a mantzel, wouldnt say it was worth the money or provided any gains really.

So the gains of 4-7bhp are complete bollocks then
Really trying to get to 150bhp with a remap, and I don't think i'm going to, so thinking of anything to add a few more bhp

what u mean the valve that opens / closes?
i presumme not.... on it is there a lip of sorts // somthing that can be ground down to make smoother air flow? my mates vts had 1 done// exchanged his for £70...
he said it made it run smoother // didnt notice anything power wise.. only a r/r would verify i suppose...
this guys having a bubble at £200+ lol
-------
thinking about it.... you may not even get 4- 7bhp from a chip let alone "bore-ing" something out

The blue bit, thats the butterfly, he must make that bigger in order to flow more air though into the inlet.

oh well.... on the walls on my mates VTS had a lip / curve....
god no's why... anyway.... he smooothed it off for £70...
my friend could of done that himself but atleast he knew what he was looking for....
most ppl wouldnt tell if it had been done + just put a standard 1 back on+ say "it gave me 10bhp"

that bar you see across the middle when the throttle is open thsi creates a 'wall' which air hits, they reduce the impact this has on air flow, TBH mate i wouldnt pay over £100 for opeing the throttle out etc

get aftermarket management on it, junk the standard ecu and loom, get it mapped properly and you will get 150bhp

Can't afford aftermarket managment.
I know it's costly, but how much?

I wouldn't bother with the enlarged TB. Too much money for not much gain.

they make a difference on large engines e.g. 2.8 straight 6 bmw engines not on small capacity 4 cylinder engines.
