i just got a hold of the new oil sump but from what i can see the sump attaches to what i think is thew gearbox, but the sump i got ordered in looks like this....


i know nothing about engines but it says a mk3 cavalier 1.4/1.6 on the box of the sump...

can anyone help asap... cheers

The sump doesn't attach to the gearbox, it attachs to the bottom of the block.

Check the part no.?

it says on ebay its the same sump... i drove over a messed up speedbump with a metal thing sticking out of it and it caught on to the screw and ripped the hole in it... nearly all the oil was gone in a few secs...

but see where its bolted on to somthin on the side? its like the gear box...

Sports have an alloy sump, that also bolts to the gearbox.
