Apart from the turbo, and all the gubbins, what would be needed to run on an X16XE. Definatley needed.....?
Low compression pistons?
Stand alone ECU, or Mapped to suit the boost, ala MSD or someone?
5th Injector? Whats this about, i've seen it mentioned before. Or, higher flowing injectors?
ARP's?
Strengthened rods/bottom end?
Whats reliability like?
Anyone done this, and got any feedback?
Any good feedback appreciated, apart from the don't bother, yada yada.

with a proper ecu fully mapped wit hdecent injectors you wont need a pikey 5th injector

dont bother, supercharge it!
you will need and intercooler, arp bolts not nessary due to not reving high

It's still gonna need uprated internals even if it has a standard rev limit.

It'd need the pistons and stuff with a supercharger too

who sad it didn't! just said it wasn't nessary for arp bolts, wont be reving high enough!

Whats reliability like? they don't last long if they're badly built

IMO, even a properly built, strong one will be less reliable and more stressed than an n/a engine with the same power, and won't drive as well either...
It'll also cost more.

or buy a regal kit, no need to lower compression then and a bargin at £4k

Right, so basically don't cut corners. Right.
Can a standard ECU with a re-writable EPROM chip be mapped to run with boost or do you need a different sort of ECU?
(I'm a bit shit with ECU's)

need a two stage FPR (for on and off boost)

A mappable Eeprom wouldn't cope with a boost input, so the map would be a bit vague, ie. over a certain rev range it would bang more fuel in, but you might not be on boost at that point...
I'd use a proper ECU with a boost input, again, not cutting corners.

Dont use one of those crap dual rate fp/r, they are a complete bodge in my opinion.
Proper management and mapping is the key.
Tb's give excellent power gains yep, but hardly change the torque. A turbo would help that, lol.

I have seen a couple of turbo'd VTSs and they had a 5th injector in the inlet pipe. When the car gets to a certain rpm/boost it starts to squirt in more fuel.
Having 4 bigger injectors may lead to overfueling problems at low rpm/boost. I think thats the theory anyway

No it wouldn't, not if the map is right.

the one thing you need is a big wallet,
I looked into it and was cheaper and better yo do a c20LET conversion.

Looking at it so far, it'd cost me around 2K including most parts......jeez. Only saving is on tax. And insurance.....which isnt' that much cheaper than a C20 I bet.

2k?
£1000 for management
£500 for a decent turbo
£300+ for a manifold
That's nearly £2k already, and you need pistons, headwork, cams (which would need to be custom as no-one does an off the shelf turbo cam for the X16XE), oil feed/return, boost pipework, intercooler, oil cooler, injectors, new belts, decent head gasket and a new exhaust system at least...
Plus ARPs (head and rod) and steel rods if you want to do it properly.

Price wise, i'd put about 3-4k into it tbh.
Adding up all the bits that robin mentioned.
Catcams do custom cam grinds, as a turbo cam(s) have to have minimal overlap.
A lot of vts's etc have a 5th injector setup, because thats a cheap way of doing it.
That relies on just a piggyback ecu that controls the 5th injector, and is the not the best way to go about it imo.
