ok just saying what the policeman told me, as i say he's a mate of ours so there would be no reason for him to lie about it.

Edit:- this is before 2001 by the way, any plates after using this font are deamed illegal like you say, its before 2001 there were 7 legal fonts

he's not asking about whether his font is legal though as the police officer said it was?

i would say it is fine as the plate is still english and it's just and F

but it might be because it's a logo which isn't one of the normal eu logo's. like when people have silly football ones etc.

exactly, he said anyone with italics, vauxhall etc thats illegal straight away, but because i have the gold stars and a F and the car is a 2000 so before 2001 apprently its 100% legal.

when i bought plain standard font plates on a website before, there was something on there sayig that any car before 2001 must have a font which RESEMBLES the uk standard legal font but would not have to be exact.

any car registered in/after 2001 must have the standard uk font.

that's what i read.

basically saying no italics, but as long as it's easily read by speed camera's etc.

Yeah this is the thing i heard and was told, that this font people have on the german plates etc was one of the 7 legal fonts before the year 2001 which makes the plate legal as long as the spacing and size meets the requirements etc...

Any proof of this law with some written evidence. If it does exist then I am ordering some german plates and keeping a printout in the car

There not legal straight away because there not reflective, the font ISN'T legal, the F or D etc at the beggining isn't legal. There not BS stamped so not legal.

In conclusion there illegal.

If the car is registered in GB then it is allowed an EU flag and GB printed on the left side of it. Football clubs, paki writing, French flags and St Georges crosses are all illegal.

They don't need a BS mark to pass an MOT Ben, but the Police won't be pleased with them.
