virgin have just brought in a cap now (across all of there packages)...download more than 3GB (specific to 20mb package) between 4pm-12pm and your connection gets cut to 5mb for four hours. So if you reach this limit at 11:59pm, you wont get 20mb back til 3:59am.
It's completly lame and some what illegal against there claims that there connections are "unlimited" - and there in the fight to get other isp's to drop "unlimited" from there advertising!

They are stupid. You buy a broadband connection to download vast quantities of data. Why prevent you from doing that?

everyone is going loopy over it, mostly due to the fact that at full pelt, 3GB will take you 21minutes, and people on there 4mb service are getting screwed with a 750mb limit (drops there line down to 1MB).
It's a bit of a scam and a ploy to get custom from other ISPs by offering one of the fastest conenctions in the UK, yet the network can't cope with the service 24/7 and hence the cap at peak times.

its bullshit, i should be on '20mb' but yesterday when i did that test around 6.30pm, i got 2mb!!!!
Not once have i seen it above 4mb
