What a hassle....

We've offered on so many places now.... some in my opinion way over value

1st place - 2 bedroom flat with Garage. Offeres over 210k, we offered 252k. It went for 320k or something.

2nd place - 2 bedroom flat. Offeres over 210 or so again. We offered 270k, went for over 300k

3rd place - 2 bedroom flat. Offers over 230k. We offered 285k got it but valuation was about 20k short so haggled and couldnt agree on a price of 278k so lost it.

4th place - 2 bedroom flat - offered 252k, didnt get

5th place - 2 bedrrom flat with garage. Offers over 205k or so... We bid 276k and it went for 290k+

6th place - 2 bedroom flat. Offered 285k on its first few days on market. ACCEPTED. Got the survey done the next morning. In the mean time the FUCKERS accepted another offer. Lost it.

7th place - 2 bedroom flat with shared entrance (rest are all exclusive). Offered 273k, refused.

8th place - 2 bedroom flat with no heating, single glazing. Put a bid in of 281k and got it. Only thing is we havent seen this one.

What a hassle.

We'll see how this latest one fares. 3rd time lucky.

WTF, you offer 70k+ over the 'offers over' yet they arent accepted?

Do houses in Scotland not have an actual price that they are after or something?

it used to be 10% but that all seems to have gone to pot now. Wish they would just say what they wanted and that would be it.

yeah... it would be much easier if it was fixed or they just told you

Most places in aberdeen are going 30%+ over...

Mate offered 451k on offers over 270 or so and came fourth mad

Think edinburgh prices are around (normally) 20-30% over

thats crazy, I thought house prices were expensive in Bournemouth.

We sold our 2 bed flat last year for £186k and I thought we did well

I just don't know how first time buyers can afford such huge mortgages.

Whats the average wage in the area?

yeah... that price isnt a true reflection of Aberdeen as whole. You get cheaper area's. You can still get city centre 2 bed flats for 150k - 200k region i think

Wages - Not sure... but Aberdeen is a pretty wealthy city with all the oil crap. lso depends on what you work as....

but i agree its getting crazy for first time buyers. You need to save and save to get a decent deposit. Then if your quite young your wages will normally be at the bottom end of the scale so your very limited in what you can go for. say your on 20k... your pretty much looking at 80k max mortgage if going in by yourself.

If this place comes through (still need to get a survey done) Fee wont be getting her Elise for a while think heating and double glazing are more important.

I have been told by a number of different people now that we should be able to get at least part grants from Aberdeen Council for the HEating and Double Glazing...
Once everything gets confirmed with this one I'll start looking into it.
Might get a few k from them towards it.

I'm excited! We've bought a surprise house

I hope it doesnt smell

it will smell of old folk.... Roseberry had a smell too.

Musty.

Once the carpets are out and our stink moved in it will smell of us... or me... roses.

I don't know...apparently it was kept really clean and the old wifey's nieces looked after her a lot, so will have kept it clean.

Ideally we want to live in town, or I do
and with flats alone being £280k ish, we can't really afford a house

the flat is a self contained ground floor flat with a garden and space to build a garage, so all we really need just now.
It's about two streets up from my new work, and about a 10 minute walk into town.
