New problem for you folks......

When idling, my car seems to make a spitting noise out of the exhaust. This seems to have got worse recently. Like this brrrrrrrr-p-brrrrrrrr-p-brrrrr

Also, doesn't seem to like to rev as much as it used to. Slight decrease in fuel economy.

I'm thinking it may be a dodgy injector, lead or coil pack.

Help!! Thanks.

Does it do it all the time, or just from cold?

Mine used to do it, but that was down to the map

Mine misfires quite badly when its cold, then seems to settle itself down?
Although if left the idle is up and down and very jumpy...
And same as you said Dean W, doesn't like to rev as much as it used to..mines burning quite a bit of oil though?

Doesn't the blackness indicate miss-fire which could have implications for inside the engine?

Robin - It does it all the time. Doesn't matter wether i've done 200 miles, or 2.

Rob - It does has cams, but they are very mild courtenay cams.

I'll change the plugs, leads and coil pack to see if it helps.

Yep, a big change. The 1.6 is getting stripped, sold and binned.

2.0 power.
