im going to change my oil at the end of this week, been reading a few posts on here and looks like 10w/40 is bets stuff to use, was thinking of maybe using an additive like wynns or something like that cause my tappets have been quite noisy in the past few weeks, anyone had any bad experiences with additives before now?

10w/40 GM oil is best

If your using addatives use Forte stuff as recommended by Vauxhall.

Forte top end treatment is what you need

use vaux 10w 40 semi synthetic oil and a vaux oil filter.

dont bother with additives, the oil is good enough.

so is it easy enough just to get the vaux oill and filter from a dealer, also will i need to buy a new sealing washer for the sump?

im guessing its more opinion as to whether additives work! its just that my engine was tapping a bit before so thought one might help

if the engine is tapping it has a mechanical fault. additives work to an extent but 99% of what they claim to do is a gimmick IMO

use a good quality oil and filter, thats all you need. replace the sump washer while you are there, 50p well spent.

And if you really want you can stick a big strong magnet to your sump bolt like i do.

It means any swarf sticks to it

Yep 10w-40 semi will be fine, or 5w-40 synthetic if you want to treat it.

As stated above, dont bother with any additives.

Cheers

Guy.
