problem is the EGR valve
My dad said a good cleaning might do the trick? This usually the case? How much is a replacement?
Why are the EGR valves such a common fault on these ecotecs?

Rip it off!
It's 100% certain that it will come up after some months!

I'd just replace it with a brand new one, will be about £80-£100 from Vauxhall.

Buy a new one, and a blanking plate from Vauxhall (Superlite will have the part number), blank it off, plug the valve in and it will never ever fuck up again. Ever.
