Use a normal socket Scott, it'll work as long as you use one which fits properly, that's what I used to do .

Yeah i tried that, I used a 1/4 drive, but it just rounded it off a little

True. but it'll go past 100oC, and into the red.
I just took the sensor out for the fan out of the rad, and joined a wire from each connecter and the fan didnt come on, should it of come on?
