alrite guys looking for some pearls of wisdom here.
I've just won this item on ebay, which will go in place of the blanking plate above the rear seats.
from what I can see it should drop in place, but I'm guessing it wont have the wiring behind. this should be easy to sort, but I'm curious if I can wire it up to light up when the doors open. obviously the rear doors dont have plunger switches, but it would still be nice to light up at the rear when the front doors open.
I was distracted when typing this if it dont make sense!

yes, just wire it directly into the front light (positive and negative) and route the wires and it will work when the doors open.

cheers for that, I notice the light has a switch on it, if I wired it up as you suggested would I still have this function working?
also, would I need to peel back the headlining to gain access to place the wiring?

Try this mate, same principle. I wired in a map light using this guide, very useful.
