Would you say 400-450miles a week warrants converting from petrol to diesel???

Im going to be doing 70 miles a day travel to & from my new job, then 50-100 miles over & above that at night, weekends etc. Worst case 23400miles a year

I really want a fast-ish petrol car but Im thinking petol costs are going to cripple me again

Yeah id consider a diesel if i were you. Some of the diesel turbos are actullay quite quick eg the new 1.4 fiesta d turbo id very nippy and the 1.6 is quick as fuck (for a fiesta) - although i assume your not looking a new fiesta

Definatly Diesels are the future, plenty of quick diesels about now that still give good MPG. Most just need mapping which unleashes quite a few bhp. 306 hdi's can be mapped to 120bhp fro 92 for instance, the leons and golfs etc also gain considerably.

I've read into it before and it is true, something they did to the 150 is alot less reliable iirc.

Fabia vrs, brilliant economy when your doing driving like that.

Little remap gets you not far off 180 bhp either.
