When i open the bonnet it opens fine but when i close it it will not catch unless i pop the catch into the closed position manually, any ideas what might be causing this.

sounds like the spring is either snapped or come off

im not sure though cos if i push the spring attached to the catch slightly then the catch pops back into place

must be something obstructing it or the cable or maybe the pull handle in the footwell

try lubricating the moving parts

the parts are lubricated properly, i knowcos my hands are also lubricated now.
ill try following the path of the cable and see if theres any obstructions.
i cant see why it would just randomly stop working properly though.

dont know what was wrong with it though cos its just randomly started working again
