Just a thing me and my friend are discuissing as he is looking into getting a quicksilver.
He thinks they are faster than a standard 1.4 sport but they are only 75bhp to my understanding and my sport has 89 i think.
What do you think

according to parkers the quiksilver is 12.4 to 60 and the sport is 10.5 so on paper it seems the the corsa is faster

well i have a sport and my mate has a quicksilver, i feel mine is stronger and quicker through the gears even though his is lighter espically over 3000rpm, he also had a saxo furio before he had his quicksilvwer and said that he furio felt quicker than the quicksilver

Off the mark 9 times out of 10 the Quicksilver will be quicker, its only higher up the rev range the Corsa is quicker.

i stand corrected, i've never had any dealings with quiksilvers OR 1.4 sports, so my opinion isn't worth much

Not top end it won't, and those 8v engines the French make aren't exactly the best.

Put it this way.
Nova GSi 1.6 8v 100bhp vs Corsa GSi 1.6 16v 109bhp
3rd gear side by side, Nova pulls away initially, Corsa gains slowly, change to 4th Nova pulls away slightly, Corsa gains slowly, repeat for 5th and then the Corsa goes past.
Reason Nova gets away? 8v low down torque & weighs less, reason Corsa gains? 16v grunt higher up
Proven on private test track called A43

Yes but it weighs about the same as a bag of crisps, and a 8v car is normally easier to drive than a 16v car.

8valves have more low down torque so will initially pull away a little bit quicker but then higher up the rev range the 16v will continue to pump more power power out

pretty sure it doesn't lose weight as it goes up the rev range? unless pieces of tin crap fall off?
