Ok first of all I got a 1.5TD which has got a cable speedo. Recently I had to change the cable so I bought one from vaux and took it to a car electrician. Now the speedo reads ok but from 20mph onwards it makes a ticking noise. The noise frequency increases as the speed increases. What the heck could this be?

might not be fitted into the back of the clocks correctly

cable to tight or loose and/or is catching on something. As this will be caused as the cable rotates. If you got someone to fit it for take it back to them and ask them to adjust it
