Its a 1.2 8v.
When she left for work yesterday she could hear a "funny noise". Thats all she can describe
When she got to work , white/grey smoke started pishing out of the bonnet (NOT the exhaust). Like, loads of smoke !
I went up to her work to find that the car is not starting at all. All the dash lights come on etc , but the starter motor doesnt go.
There is a very strong smell of burnt plastic , possibly wiring ?
What I noticed that I found pretty significant was the fact that the coolant has gone an oily black colour and smells of fish . . .
Has the engine overheated and head gasket gone and at the same time meltd some wiring ?
Any help much appreciated !

funny noise could have been started stuck in the engaged position and burnt the starter out!
Burnt plastic are you sure its plastic starter would give like a hot brake clutch slipping type of smell?
Fishy coolant hmm loads of punch lines but can't think of a relative explanation for that sounds a bit fishy tbh

She may have knackered the starter , suppose thats the best scenario really. Would the car still go by bump start ?

if the coolant has gone black with oil i wouldn't be running it at all get it recovered to local garage in case you cause more damage.
