instead of an all in one speaker that you just plug the speaker cables onto you have a little box, a speaker and a tweeter.
you wire the cables coming from you hu into the little box (crossover) the little box then coverts it into high for tweeters and mid for the speaker. From the little box you'll have 2 wires for the tweeters and 2 wires for the speaker.
So 6 wires, 2 speakers (1 mid 1 tweeter) and a crossover.
Obviously if you buy the correct size for the standard holes then they'll go straight in then all you need to do is hide the crossover box and mount the tweeter. In sorsa's you can mount the tweeter in the door grab bit where the standard tweeters are.

So the wires from the HU are they the wires that go into the original door speekers i.e + & - so u like cut them off the back of speekers and connect em to crossover box.
Also does the crossover box need powering at all.
