Just bought xBox Live, and I have a Gamertag already on my 360 from my free 1 month.
If i use a new Gamertag, will i be able to use my saved data from my old GT on my new 1

Damn.
New Problem - I have connected the 360 to my PC, and have a wireless connection from the router, but the internet isn't working on the 360

i take it you meen you hve put the ethernet cable in from the xbox into the spare port on the pc and the pc is connected via wireless connection?
if this is the case you need to enable ics or bridge the connection, i always prefered to bridge the connection.
to do this go into your network connection left click the wireless connection then hold ctrl on the keyboard and left click the ethernet connection on the pc, once they are both highlighted in blue right click and choose bridge connections, windows will now bridge the 2 connections.
once this is done restart the pc, make sure the pc still has a connection by opening your web browser if it does have a connection turn the 360 on and go to network connections and just try automatic set up it should work.
however, be advised some wireless cards dont like bridging ect and xbox live can be a hassel with it, or at least it was with me before i hardwired it.
hope that helps. if it doest smb .

and save game files are linked to gamer tags, which is a pain in the arse most the time.

I followed the guide on the MS website. But when I get to step 5, I get the message shown in the picture below.
Any idea what could be wrong?

Only when no-one else is using it, unless I can use the router, but I don't know which settings I would have to change.

if there is a spare port on router thn it will work as soon as u plug it in. Just plud cable in and switch everything off at wall switch it back on so the settings are reset.
Also you can configure settings by loading up internet and typing 127.0.0.1
which will bring up routers settings
