Author cant view EPSON ink levels via my Belkin print server? any ideas?

have an epson r2000 printer

when connected to usb i can view ink levels and print OK

when connected to Belkin router/print server I can print ok but not see ink levels - says can not communicate with printer

any fixes for this?

you cant check levels when connected via TCP/IP to an epson printer.
