not when i pushed em in no but after they were in yes, shud it be running when i do put them in?

TBH i've got an older Corsa with an XE so i just turned the ignition on and off it went, flashin away.
Try it, have the car running and then plug your paper clip in.
One thing, you are just using one paperclip right? You seem to be referring to them as if you had two.
Sorry to ask the obvious!

its not lit as soon as i start the car if i drive around for 10 mins or so it comes on

When it next comes on, pull over and leave the car running, do the paperclip test.
Doesnt HAVE to be a paperclip, i use a bit of speaker wire.

Err
Think that is where you are going wrong then fella.
You need one paperclip....one end in pin 5, the other end in pin 6.
The idea is to short the two together.

No worries mate.
I think its a standard size plug, maybe they are used on other Vauxhalls.
They have numbered them purely for orientation i think.
